Spring '23 - One Room Challenge Week 2
I've been a stalker of the One Room Challenge for years, but this year, I've decided to go rogue and become a participant! In case you're unfamiliar, the ORC is an eight-week test of your sanity, where you attempt to transform an entire space with just your wits, skills, and the company of other designers and DIYers. The cherry on top? There's a deadline! Who knew that sheer terror could be such an excellent motivator?

We’re in ORC Week 2 and stuff is getting real! Just a quick refresher from last week: I've decided to treat myself as my own client and give the Room Service Interiors workspace the much-needed upgrade it deserves using our 7 Step Process to Project Completion. That's right - I'm taking on my own version of the One Room Challenge and documenting the process along the way. Last week we completed our Discovery Call, which went swimmingly. Now we’re fast tracking our process and checking off our Design Strategy Session and Flat Fee Proposal to give us more time for the installation phase and an impromptu trip to Europe (because who doesn’t need a little added stress if it means a lovely antique-oogling, design-dripping holiday with ones hubby?)
"What exactly is a Design Strategy Session?" you may wonder. In short, it's a two-hour appointment where we discuss your project goals, timeline, and budget in the comfort of your own home. But it's much more than that. During this session, we talk about the inspiration for your project. How do you want it to look and feel in your space? By the end of the appointment, we will walk away with the detailed measurements, photos, and notes we require to provide you with a comprehensive flat fee design proposal. Trust us, taking the time to document your space and getting clear on the tasks at hand is essential to avoiding the honest-to-goodness pitfalls of renovation roulette.

Week 2 process checklist:
✔ Design Strategy Session
✔ Flat Fee Proposal
So what did we find out during this two hours about us? Here's a combined list of our scope of work and deliverables. While it might be a condensed version of our usual process, we're keeping the minutia to a dull roar because we don't want you to unfollow us :)

Our task list for our Fugly to Fabulous Modern French Country Office Glow Up
Now that we’ve got our task-list sorted, we'll take that Scope of Work and whip up a flat fee proposal based on the design deliverables, complexity of the design, and past experience. Want to hoard your Nana's fancy china? Dreaming of a wine cellar that'll make your neighbors jealous? Or maybe you just want a basement that's fit for a Sunday night football showdown. Whatever your heart desires, we'll break it down into an easily digestible proposal. We know that clients often underestimate the time and money it takes to deck out their digs, so we're happy to provide a flat fee that won't leave you feeling cheated or clueless about the cost. Trust us, surprises are only fun in birthday parties, not interior design bills.
Join us next week for Week 3 of the One Room Challenge and see how we plan to turn this Fugly office into modern french country fabulous. Only SIX WEEKS left!!
Until next time,
